Jenny Lohner, Ed.D., is a Colorado-based writer, domestic violence survivor, mother, and educator. Her desire to help survivors came from her own legal battle in which her abuser launched WWIII and subjected her to multiple custody evaluations aimed at dehumanizing her.

A school leader and mom by day, Jenny spent nights during her scouring the internet for verbiage adequate enough to describe what she and her children were experiencing—to no avail.

With little to go on, Jenny gathered up current domestic violence and coercive control research and coded it for frequently occurring themes and descriptors and used this language to write her custody narrative.

Jenny’s narrative garnered the attention of outside experts working on her case who noted the quality and precision of her writing and the organization of her materials. This feedback inspired Jenny to want to help other survivors organize and narrate their stories and organize evidence for custody evaluations and legal proceedings.

In 2024, Jenny founded Survivor Resource Group, a practice dedicated to providing comprehensive support services for survivors navigating high-stakes custody evaluations. Jenny believes no survivor should walk alone or pay expensive legal fees to understand or navigate the Parental Responsibilities Evaluator (PRE) or Child and Family Investigator (CFI) processes. As a survivor herself, Jenny strives to be trauma-informed in her approach, diligent in capturing details that matter, and honest in narrating client experiences. She understands the pain of a system that silences survivors and harms children and aims to give a voice to the voiceless.

Jenny is a proud mom of three wonderfully brave and resilient children who remind of the joy in the ordinary. She is an avid runner, below-average cook, Michigander, and loyal friend; a graduate of The University of Michigan (Go Blue!), BA.Ed; Colorado State University, M.Ed.; University of Colorado, Ed.D.
